The Perfect Day

This day started out as nothing extraordinary. No plans, no errands to run, nothing. But then I began to realize, a little too late, that this day was actually quite special. No plans, no errands to run, no laundry waiting, no cleaning to be done. I could sit back and enjoy the day with my kids. Too often, I think, I get wrapped up in the goings on of life to really appreciate spending time with my kids and doing absolutely nothing else. There's always a house to be cleaned, laundry to be done, groceries to get, friends to meet, etc. My kids suffer for it. I suffer for it. They have so much to teach me if I'd just slow down and pay attention. I know that God was speaking to me today through my children. He had a really important message to convey - nothing else is as important as these two little people who are watching every move I make and soaking up everything I say and do, or don't say or don't do. Slow down and just be with my kids today. Show them they are what's most important to me. So that's just what I did.

Keegan and I made blueberry pancakes together this morning and they were delicious! I only wish I had the notion to document this perfect day a little earlier and gotten pictures of those pancakes, and Keegan enjoying them so much. We built houses with lincoln logs, we played with cars. We walked Presley around the house since that's her new favorite thing to do. We watched movies that Keegan wanted to watch. We acted completely silly. We took pictures. We were completely loud and obnoxious. We made huge messes and didn't clean them up. We baked cookies and at more than one. We ate when we were hungry and not because it was 11:30. Presley took a nap when she was tired and not because the clock said it was time for Presley's nap. The schedule went out the window. And it was the perfect day.











I will go to bed tonight knowing that my kids know, without a shadow of a doubt that I love them and that they matter enough to me to stop and just do what THEY want to do once in a while. Thank God for my husband who works his tail off to allow me this time at home with my babies. Thank God for my babies. And thank God for this perfect day.

Keegan had his first soccer practice. He was SO excited!

However, he quickly found out just how tiring soccer can be. It was very challenging for him. He had to focus and pay attention to what the coach was trying to teach him.

We actually had a couple of crying spells because Keegan didn't quite understand what was going on. He got upset when he kicked the ball to one of his teammates and his teammate scored. Keegan didn't realize he was helping his teammate, only that his teammate took the ball from him.

Keegan scores! We have a little work to do before the next soccer practice. But I think Keegan will get the hang of it and do really well.

Keegan at the Dentist!

Keegan had his first dentist appointment with Dr. Josh. He was SO GOOD! They took x-rays, polished his teeth, etc. and Keegan never flinched. Unfortunately, he has the beginnings of a small cavity in the very back. So we have to go back for a filling and Keegan isn't too sure about that. But he's off to a good start. They were impressed with his brushing for the most part. He was such a brave boy!

Stepping Out

Presley has actually been doing this for a few weeks now but with all the craziness going on lately, we're just now getting it on video. She is cruising like crazy and can actually stand for a minute by herself. She is still a little unsure of it all so she wants to hold at least one hand. But it won't be long before she's chasing her brother around.

Future Scrapbooker

Keegan had to get in on the action when he saw the camera out so here is a sweet pic of my two cuties.

But this is what I originally set out to take a picture of. I was cleaning up in the office and Presley decided to get into my scrapbooking stuff. This is a new favorite thing of hers.

Future scrapbooker? I hope so!!!

Presley is 8 Months Old!

Our baby girl is now 8 months old. Hard to believe. She has no desire to crawl, but is already trying to walk - just like Keegan at this age. I wanted to get some pictures of the kids together but Keegan had no desire to have his picture taken. Also hard to believe, right?! I'll try again at a later time. Arlington Music on the Square

Every month, our little town of Arlington hosts music on the square - a free event to boost local business and community. We always have a great time when we go.

Presley's favorite past time now - learning to walk. Oh yes, barely 8 months old and off she goes. Following in her big brother's foot steps.

Finally got Keegan to stand still for a pic with his sister. He is usually up running around with the other kids. Presley isn't actually fussing - she's "talking". Mostly making noise, but this is the face you get.

Presley has 2 teeth now and I've been trying to get a good picture of them for a while now but she's pretty protective of them. This was the best I could do.

Another Day in Memphis

So the family sets out for one of our drives just to get out of the house a bit and found ourselves downtown taking in a little more of Memphis. Here, we find ourselves in Sun Studios - Keegan checking out the Elvis souvenirs.

Then we headed over to the Children's Museum of Memphis. Keegan had an absolute blast!

Then Keegan heads over to the Kroger to do a little shopping. This was too cute! One section of the museum was actually set up like a Kroger store where the kids could really shop with paper money, of course.

There was an architectural portion of the museum. The kids could see the inner workings of building a house. Here, Keegan learns about plumbing.
